On July 2nd, I had the opportunity to represent Palladin Technologies as a speaker at the Women Who Mule EMEA meetup, a MuleSoft Meetup group dedicated to amplifying voices in the integration space across the region.
This session focused on how Agentforce and MuleSoft can work together using two of MuleSoft’s latest innovations: Topic Center and the API Catalog.
What We Explored
What Are Agents?
Agents are autonomous systems designed to:
- Process topics
- Follow instructions
- Trigger actions
These are the foundational building blocks of Agentforce.
Agentforce in Action
We explored how Agentforce supports:
- Customer Service → Resolving issues faster
- Sales → Helping reps prepare for meetings
- Marketing → Personalizing outreach
- Commerce → Keeping fulfillment moving
Common Agent Challenges
- Siloed data across systems
- Lack of real-time event awareness
- Inconsistent or inaccessible APIs
- Controlled access to backend systems
- Managing agents at scale
How MuleSoft Unlocks Agent Potential
MuleSoft helps unlock the full value of agent-based architecture by:
- Exposing API operations as reusable building blocks
- Enabling agent actions that connect with 3rd-party systems
- Providing guardrails through topic-specific instructions
- Ensuring agents use the right APIs, the right way
- Powering event-driven workflows with meaningful real-time triggers
Stages to Enable Agents:
- Design agent-ready APIs with relevant business logic
- Connect data from Salesforce, databases, and external systems
- Consume APIs and events within agent workflows
- Manage APIs to ensure discoverability and governance
Two Key Features Introduced
- Topic Center – Enables agents to subscribe to meaningful events in real time
- API Catalog – Helps teams and agents quickly discover and reuse the right APIs
Hands-On Workshop Recap
We walked participants through building and testing an agent-enabled solution with MuleSoft and Salesforce:
Part 1: Linking MuleSoft and Salesforce
- Prepare your Anypoint user
- Enable Einstein for MuleSoft
- Link your Anypoint and Salesforce orgs
- Complete org linking in Anypoint
- Add the Anypoint Org ID in Salesforce
Part 2: Building the Mule Application
- Create a topic-enabled API
- Run governance rulesets
- Publish the API to Exchange
- Build the Mule application
- Create an API instance
- Add Auto-Discovery
- Deploy the app to CloudHub
Part 3: Exploring API Catalog
- Start sync in API Catalog
- Activate Agent Actions
- Enable access to the connection
Part 4: Testing the Agent
- Add your topic
- Test the agent with the API
We also shared debugging tips to help participants troubleshoot and refine their builds.
Q&A Highlights
The Q&A brought new perspectives and sparked deeper discussions around:
- Structuring topics effectively
- Choosing when to use actions vs instructions
- Real-world examples of agent automation saving time and effort
- Live agents making a difference in production
- How to call MCP endpoints in Agentforce
Looking Ahead
We see Agentforce + MuleSoft as a transformative combination, shaping the next generation of digital experiences across telecom, media, and enterprise platforms.
By connecting systems, unlocking insights, and enabling intelligent automation, we continue to help our clients build responsive, future-ready solutions.
