I’ve scrolled through hundreds of pages of Salesforce release notes, always curious to discover the latest features and innovations. But I get that release notes aren’t everyone’s favorite way to spend their precious time, especially for admins juggling a million other tasks to keep their Salesforce organization running.
However, planning for the future can help your company prepare for what’s next and allow you to test new Salesforce functionalities before they arrive. If you’ve only got a few minutes, here are my top admin highlights from the Salesforce Winter ’25 release notes worth checking out.
1. Changes to email to comply with standards
A release update to comply with increased email security standards is the ability to create and verify your Default No-reply organization-wide email address in Organization-Wide Email Address settings. Admins may have implemented this enhancement a while ago and need to validate that it will still work.
Admins should also review the integrations for a change to email handling to comply with the latest Request for Comments (RFC) standards. The change preserves your ability to send emails to addresses that contain invalid dots in the local part.
2. Improvements to Flow features for creation and maintenance
Salesforce introduces several new Flow features in the next release. A new Errors and Warnings panel validates the Flow before activation so you can view the problem details and instructions on fixing the issues. The advanced resource picker is intuitive and user-friendly, with breadcrumbs for easier navigation and an improved hierarchy for selecting components. Salesforce also introduces a new option to generate formulas in Flow using prompts with natural language, helping immensely with often tricky formula syntax.
3. Configure visual indicators with Conditional Field Formatting enhancements
The new features for Conditional Field Formatting allow you to apply custom colors and icons to fields on record pages. However, the feature is only available for Dynamic Forms fields in the Lightning App Builder – a great reason to update if you’re still using Classic. You’ll also benefit from the new option to enable Dynamic Forms and the Dynamic Highlights Panel on mobile devices.
4. Manage Sandbox access via Public Groups
Beginning in Winter ’25, a new feature in the Sandbox Setup page changes the selective Sandbox access for Developer and Developer Pro Sandboxes. This feature improves sandbox creation times, enhances the login experience, and increases sandbox security. Plus, it means no more pesky invalid dots on user email addresses when creating a Sandbox.
5. Improvements to admin user and object access
Salesforce adds two significant timesavers for admins to troubleshoot access issues. For user management, with a few clicks, you have visibility into the profile, permission sets, and permission set groups that grant permissions to a specific user. Object access is improved to quickly check permission sets, permission set groups, and profiles.
At Palladin, we provide advisory and managed services to help admins get the most out of Salesforce’s releases. We’re here to help you navigate Winter ’25 and all the releases rolling out ahead.
