On July 2nd, I had the opportunity to represent Palladin Technologies as a speaker at the Women Who Mule EMEA meetup, a MuleSoft Meetup group dedicated to amplifying voices in the integration space across the region. 

This session focused on how Agentforce and MuleSoft can work together using two of MuleSoft’s latest innovations: Topic Center and the API Catalog.

What We Explored

What Are Agents?

Agents are autonomous systems designed to:

Stages to Enable Agents:

  1. Design agent-ready APIs with relevant business logic
  2. Connect data from Salesforce, databases, and external systems
  3. Consume APIs and events within agent workflows

Two Key Features Introduced

  • Topic Center – Enables agents to subscribe to meaningful events in real time
  • API Catalog – Helps teams and agents quickly discover and reuse the right APIs

We walked participants through building and testing an agent-enabled solution with MuleSoft and Salesforce:

Part 1: Linking MuleSoft and Salesforce

  • Prepare your Anypoint user
  • Enable Einstein for MuleSoft
  • Link your Anypoint and Salesforce orgs
  • Complete org linking in Anypoint
  • Add the Anypoint Org ID in Salesforce

Part 2: Building the Mule Application

  • Create a topic-enabled API
  • Run governance rulesets
  • Publish the API to Exchange
  • Build the Mule application
  • Create an API instance
  • Add Auto-Discovery
  • Deploy the app to CloudHub

Part 3: Exploring API Catalog

  • Start sync in API Catalog
  • Activate Agent Actions
  • Enable access to the connection

Part 4: Testing the Agent

  • Add your topic
  • Test the agent with the API

We also shared debugging tips to help participants troubleshoot and refine their builds.

The Q&A brought new perspectives and sparked deeper discussions around:

  • Structuring topics effectively
  • Choosing when to use actions vs instructions
  • Real-world examples of agent automation saving time and effort
  • Live agents making a difference in production
